First post.....first build.....

I own a couple of ARs but decided to put one together since I've never done one before.  Idea was to build a flat top without spending too much.

PSA stripped upper and build kit
Anderson stripped lower
PSA lower build kit
Magpul stock and grip
PSA premium BCG and charging handle
Budget 16" M4 profile barrel
DPMS flash hider
Budget free float handguard
YHM low profile gas block

Looks good!  I decided that I was going to build my first AR or attempt, get frustrated and have to pay someone lots of money to finish it.  Luckily, the internet  has lots of great info and I had enough mechanical inclination to get mine built.  The downside to this is that I'm addicted to building these things now.  About to finish up a second upper for mine in 7.62x39.   Any ideas on what optics you're going to put on this one???

Thanks!

I'm going cheap with the optics.  Primary Arms or something similar.  This is going to be my "beater" gun.   I did a ton of reading before deciding to build.  I had a lot of fun doing it.  I'm already doing research on my next build. Obsessive..LOL

I want to build something with an 18" SS barrel next and go all out!!!

All-out build sounds awesome!!!  I'm really happy with Primary Arms.  I have their 1-4x24 scope and mount on my 5.56 upper.  It's really nice.  I didn't plan on shooting distance with .223/5.56, so the magnification is great for my purposes.

Here's my first build with above mentioned optic:

Here's with my new upper, 7.62x39, same lower:

Addictive hobby...

How is the machining and fit on the Anderson Lower? I have seen mixed reviews.

I'm no expert but everything went together nicely.  I found it to be actually a lot easier than I thought it would be.  Maybe because I watched videos for a couple of months before doing it.  The only thing I noticed is that my PMAGS are a bit tight.  They don't fall right off like they do in my M&P 15 Magpul when I press the mag release.

MaxFubar:  Those two look great.  What barrel and hanguard do you have on the 7.62x39?   How about that PA 1-4x24 scope???  That would look nice on my M&P.  I was going to go big and get a VX-R patrol but the price on that PA is very tempting

I've only got 200 rounds or so with the PA scope but it appears very well built and is holding zero fine. The red dot on it is kinda useless to me. But the scope itself works for it's intended use. Their mount is very nice too.

7.62 barrel was from Gunbroker. 1:10" twist. Chrome lined with m4 ramps.  Guard is a Samson Evolution 12.37". I really like it. Super light.
