Howdy!

This is my first post.  Long time gun owner and hunter but I've never owned or shot an AR-15.  It's time to remedy that, ha.  I'm mostly interested in accurate rifles so I've done a little reading on what style I should build. Here is what I'm thinking and I welcome your feedback and thoughts on these ideas.  Here is what I'm thinking......

- Stainless steel barrel (no chrome inside)
  * 16" length
  * 1:7" twist
  * 223 Wylde chamber
  * Free floated
- Free-float hand guard
- Flat top
- Decent trigger
- Adjustable LOP stock

So with this in mind, what parts would you recommend?  If possible, I would like to keep it under $1K and shoot for 1 MOA precision.  Are there any quality kits or complete upper along these lines where I could save some dough?  How does the bolt impact accuracy?  Should I purchase a bolt from the maker of the barrel?  Most barrels aren't 1:7" twist.......where can I find this?  After reading a bit, it appears what I'm looking for is similar to a RECCE, correct?.

Appreciate your thoughts!

Larue barrels are well proven
Geissele or ALG handguard.  These are my preferences.  There are really too many out there to choose from and you will get a number of recommendations.
Geissele Trigger. Again, preference, many manufacturers and styles.

Everything else is pretty standard.  Stick to components that are at least milspec.

Im building one right now...

My build list so far is

Aero M4E1 15" Mlok ($230)
Ballistic Advantage 16" Stainless SPR .750 with gas block/tube/A2 cage ($230 or so with BA's 4th of July sale)
Vltor EMOD (Used on EE for $40)
ADM Recon ($160)
Vortex PST 1-4 (EE Deal $410)
PSA Lower build kit ($130)
PSA Blem Lower

- Approx $1270 so far.

Im looking at the Larue MBT or Geiselle SD3G (Big price difference)
and deciding on a  muzzle device / Bipod / BCG
When im done I'll be at $1800

You might want to up your budget a bit, however if you watch the EE here on arf you can probably hit closer to the $1k mark especially if you go for a cheaper scope/.

It all comes down to preference. If it were me, I'd get a larue barrel and trigger right now while they are on sale. Worth every penny. Geissele SSA-E is also a good choice for a trigger but will cost you more than the larue MBT. As for the rail, again it's personal preference. I've got a couple BCM KMR rails which I really like and a geissele rail too. Both are great and I wouldn't hesitate on either one.

I can't find the sale of Larue barrels/triggers.  I see only what appears to be the standard price on their website.  Am I missing something?

The prices on the Larue site are on sale.

$125 on the triggers and $225 on the barrels.

Thanks!

What length handguard?

Any suggestions on a handguard?  I like the way the Larue mounts.  Any other options at lower cost?

What are good quality upper/lowers that are competitively priced?

Aero Precision makes a quality upper/lower.  Many here like Anderson also.

I like Aero receiver sets. Not too expensive, excellent fit and finish, and the ones I have went together easily with no tolerance issues and function great. Anderson lowers work good, but they don't tap the grip screw hole all the way through. Not a deal breaker, just something you'll have to address if you use their lower. Also fit and finish isn't as nice as Aero IMO but that doesn't affect function.
