So this is my first build, and really my first AR. I didn't build from a stripped lower, that's my next project.

I ordered a PSA Blem Lower for $159 and was surprised when I didn't have to wait forever for it to ship, next day it was out the door. What really surprised me was what they called a blem was just a just a hard to wipe off spot of something greasy. Other then that, with all the time me and my LGS spent looking for a blem, neither of us could find one! (other then all the oil they soaked this lower in lol)

So after I got my Lower, I put in an order at Toms Tactical, picked up the Radical Firearms 16" FGS upper with 15" free floated handguard for $239. I'm not all about unnecessary rail space and added weight, but I can add rails to this no problems for a foregrip or bipod if needed

As you can tell, I still have a bit of a way to go, BCG and CH being the two obvious missing pieces to this build. Still making my mind up on backup sights and optics. Might even get some cerakote work done in the future.

Projected price to get this rifle operational is $530.84, that's including the BCG and CH I'm planning on buying.

I'd make sure to check out that barrel and upper.  There have been a lot of reports here lately of radical firearms parts being crappy.

I wouldn't cheap out on your BCG and I'd stay away from radical firearms until there is a more positive consensus about them.

ETA:  Look at AIM or PSA for a decent BCG for your money, and get a BCM Mod4 charging handle, it's worth the extra money

Actually a AIM NiB BCG and Alpha charging handle were factored into the price lol

I like how it's easy enough to build a pretty good quality rifle for $550. Great day to be starting out in the AR world, or just to be building more rifles in general!

Edit: Until the election draws closer.

Which is exactly why I am filling up all that empty space in my safe with these horrible, soul snatching black guns while I can!

It's easy to get it well under $550, it just won't be as pretty.  I just finished one that tallied right at $440.

I have always loved buying "seconds" type items. Always guaranteed to function but "may have cosmetic" reasons for failing quality control. In most cases I can not find any actual blemish, and the best thing that I could come up with was that the surface treatment didn't color correctly - As in the black wasn't black enough or some such thing.

That's for gun parts. With clothing "seconds" it's usually a point where the sewing machine ran out of thread and they had to restart a stitch. So you get a foot or so up the inseam where it's doubled and might see a loose end hanging out.

I know a guy who guys built a 16" for less then $300......of course he built it the lower off of parts he took off of other AR's for replacements, then got an el cheapo upper....had someone send him their spare butt stock and grip too lol

Got some rails yesterday and add them on, then threw my angled fab defense grip on. Still waiting on the BCG and CH.
