I'm going to start my first build soon guys and I'm a COMPLETE noob with this stuff. But I've done a lot of research and have narrowed down my parts. Here is what I'm planning on using:
Upper Reciever:
Spikes M4 Flattop assembled with forward assist
YHM Midlength Diamond Free Float Handguard
CMMG Stripped 16" Gov Profile 5.56
DD Bolt Carrier Assembled
Spikes CH
YHM Low Profile Gas Block
YHM Gas Tube

Lower Reciever:
RRA CAA Tac Stock
Spikes Lower Stripped Zombie Reciever
Spike Lower Enhanced Parts kit

With all that it comes out to about $1067.50. Good price for a complete custom??

Thanks Jake

If I'm missing anything or if some of my parts aren't compatible please let me know.  Any comments??

its a little on the expensive side for an m4 build, but looks fine. if you're not in a hurry to build your rifle, you can find parts on the deals page or Equipment Exchange (EE)

you won't end up with the parts you originally aimed for but you'll save a lot of money for equivalent or even better parts.

Alright. And I'm not really in a hurry. I looked around for a lot of good parts. I learned what most of the guys on here used by reading the Post Your Build topic and I picked out the most used parts. Anyone else??

How can I make the build cheaper?

I'd probably look at the second barrel on this page http://www.pkfirearms.com/Daniel_Defense_Barrels/121/c
Its mostly likely a better quality barrel.

As for the stock, I can't find anything involving RRA and CAA. I'd probably look into something else though. CAA isn't highly regarded around here as being great quality parts.
Otherwise, the rest of your parts look GTG.

Alright. That does look like a good barrel.

First and foremost... lose the crappy CAA stock.

+1 for the DD barrel, Chromium Molybdenum Vanadium and Cold Hammer Forged, not that most of us would be able to tell the difference myself included, but its a nice one for sure.

also aimsurplus.com has (had? i think i bought the last one) a deal for the DD 16" m4 profile, $239 dollars with FSB, coupon code ar15.com. if its still there go for it.

yeah lose the stock, find one on EE

ETA you live in california? if not theres spikes blemished lowers for 64.99

The barrel I was talking about isn't CHF, its less than $200 though.

Name some good stocks that are similar then.

Look at JSE Surplus as well.  I've had good luck with them and AIM.

You can do better on prices. My ebr values around 2200 but I've only spent about ~1400. Also helps that I bought my barrel and bcg off a friend for great price -plan on buying him a nice folder for his birthday or something.

The EE is awesome but it will make your build spread out a little. Totally worth it tho.

I was thinking yesterday and this is my first build and I want to do it right. So I'm going to stick with most of the same parts and use the EE. Thanks for all the help guys.

You're going to need to buy some tools as well if you haven't already.
