Okay so I've been wanting to build my own AR now for quite a while and after Christmas I plan on doing so, my first question is how important is the stripped lower?? I mean do I have to break the bank on a lower or something in the 50-100$ range will work?
I'm not looking to spend more then say 800$ total on this build Any suggestion on stripped lower would be great...I'll have allot more questions later but the first thing I want to buy is a lower and build it... Thanks |

A lower is a lower is a lower.
That being said there are aluminum and composite lowers. The composite tend to be not as strong. YMMV Then there are forged and billet. Forged is mil spec and billet is milled out of a solid block. Different brands will have a different roll mark. Get what you like. The best deals on stripped lowers lately are PSA and Anderson. I have had no problems with either. Everything fit and functioned perfectly. Spend the money on the bolt and barrel. You can build a PSA rifle for around $550 and that's not even going with PTAC parts. That's a good hobby rifle. 400 for a good upper and 150 for a complete lower. Upgrades are on you Good luck and have fun with it. I know I have. I've build one from a kit, one franken-gun and a half-n-half PSA pistol. All have been 100% |
| The Lower is really up to personal taste. Any Mil Spec Forged Lower will work as there are only a hand full of companies that produce them. So yes you can use an Anderson Lower for I think less than $50.00 or a PSA Lower for about the same price when on sale for there Blem. Or if you just wish to have some design that catches your fancy get one of those. |

Great thanks for the info, I was actually looking at an Anderson Lower 43$
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/6-0136500 and a Del-Ton 84$.... http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/7-GLR100 I like the Del-Ton a bit more but if at the end of the day they both hold up well then I'd buy the cheaper and try and keep my budget on target... |

Here is a Couple of I think Good Deals.
PSA BCG and Charging Handle $119.98 http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/18329/s/palmetto-state-armory-5-56-full-auto-nickel-boron-bcg-with-charging-handle-1/ PSA Lower $49.99 http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/10446/category/4282/ |
| The EE is your friend...i just finished my build after about six months of nickel and diming parts and have under 800 into it. It has billet upper and lower, nib trigger and bcg, and the stock and accessories I was looking for. From what I have read the most critical parts are barrel and bolt. Go with a known manufacturer on those and your gtg. |
