badass!
I love it and am actually in the process of building a similar (but scaled down due to budget and much less sexy) version as my first pistol build. man you got me thinking about a cerakote job because that looks great IMO. I'd like to slide my pmag 40 into that bi@tc# |

Did you do anything to the UBR receiver extension to prevent the stock being installed? Other than taking the stock to my office (6 miles from home) and keeping the "pistol" at home, no. I've read ATF letters here that state that (my interpretation, not quoting verbatim) rendering the buffer tube useless is not necessary, as long as the stock is not kept nearby / with the weapon. I'm sure this is mildly controversial, as is the AFG to those who haven't seen similar letters. This forum seems half-filled with disputes over interpretations of ATF law. |
| From what I have read that as long as you don't have a spare stock in the same area as the pistol you are gtg. I wonder how they feel about if I have another AR that has a stock and a pistol with a standard Carbine Buffer tube in the same place at the same time would that consider that intent? |

There is no such thing as intent. You have either made an NFA firearm or you have not. And you don't have to actually assemble the pieces to have "made" one. As long as a collection of parts has a "useful purpose other than to make an NFA firearm", you're good. And multiples of the same component are fine, they are just spare legally useful parts. However, even though technically legal, I would not be out and about with a complete AR rifle and a pistol, and also have a spare stock. No sense baiting the bear. - OS |

Thanks!
I never made it out today, probably going to have to wait until Monday. The buffer is a T2, which is the same as what I have in my 14.5" The BCG that I have in there now is from Youngs, which I don't believe was intended for full-auto, but odds are good I'll switch it out to my BCM, which is. My other rifle is turning more into a SPR type build, so I think the Youngs is more well suited for that one instead. The rail is about 9.5" long. Hope this helps...I'll post results after I get to the range. Believe me, I'm dying to shoot this. |

Expensive why? Just curious... I have started the process of making this a SBR, and was just thinking of using it like this until I get the stamp. I got the idea from another member who posted in the photo thread here, and there were no comments then about this being illegal in any way. I am not looking to challenge a law, or get into trouble in some way. Is there a reason this shouldn't be used, and (if so) can anyone legitimately say why? I was citing this ATF letter (from the thread here, page 3) as a reference: http://www.smugmug.com/photos/i-vWhQk86/0/X2/i-vWhQk86-X2.jpg $265. pistol buffer tube |

With all due respect, I am well aware of what the UBR cost. I have every intention of using the rest of it later. What's your point? Not trying to be an ass, but I don't understand your point. Rick_A says "That's an expensive cheek piece on that buffer tube." You say "Expensive why? Just curious... " And i just point out what Rick ment by expensive, Im not hating, I like it alot. |
