I've spent a little bit of time reading all the posts in this section for the last couple months and looking at all the interesting pistols you've all been posting, and I finally gave in and put one together myself.  Here goes:
- Noveske Gen 2 Lower
- Noveske Upper
- Daniel Defense 10.3" Barrel (5.56)
- Daniel Defense MK18 / RIS II Rail
- Daniel Defense Flash Hider
- Magpul grip, AFG, and UBR
- Spike's Buffer
- Geissele SD3G
- Young MFG BCG
- BAD selector with short on the left side and short / think on the right
- Noveske Pins
- Troy sights
- Gear Sector Light Mount, Surefire Light, and Aimpoint PRO permanently borrowed from one of my other rifles
- Cerakoted in a custom shade of Tungsten

badass!
I love it and am actually in the process of building a similar (but scaled down due to budget and much less sexy) version as my first pistol build.
man you got me thinking about a cerakote job because that looks great IMO.

I'd like to slide my pmag 40 into that bi@tc#

Did you do anything to the UBR receiver extension to prevent the stock being installed?

Other than taking the stock to my office (6 miles from home) and keeping the "pistol" at home, no.  I've read ATF letters here that state that (my interpretation, not quoting verbatim) rendering the buffer tube useless is not necessary, as long as the stock is not kept nearby / with the weapon. I'm sure this is mildly controversial, as is the AFG to those who haven't seen similar letters.  This forum seems half-filled with disputes over interpretations of ATF law.

That's an expensive cheek piece on that buffer tube.

Expensive why? Just curious...

I have started the process of making this a SBR, and was just thinking of using it like this until I get the stamp.  I got the idea from another member who posted in the photo thread here, and there were no comments then about this being illegal in any way.  I am not looking to challenge a law, or get into trouble in some way.  Is there a reason this shouldn't be used, and (if so) can anyone legitimately say why?  I was citing this ATF letter (from the thread here, page 3) as a reference:

From what I have read that as long as you don't have a spare stock in the same area as the pistol you are gtg.  I wonder how they feel about if I have another AR that has a stock and a pistol with a standard Carbine Buffer tube in the same place at the same time would that consider that intent?

There is no such thing as intent. You have either made an NFA firearm or you have not. And you don't have to actually assemble the pieces to have "made" one.

As long as a collection of parts has a  "useful purpose other than to make an NFA firearm", you're good. And multiples of the same component are fine, they are just spare legally useful parts.

However, even though technically legal, I would not be out and about with a complete AR rifle and a pistol, and also have a spare stock. No sense baiting the bear.

Please let me know how she runs. I am building a rifle with the same barrel.
Which spikes buffer do you have? i got a t2 4.3 oz
is that a full auto bcg? from research they weigh more and factor into tuning.
What length of rail is that?

very nice build!

Thanks!
I never made it out today, probably going to have to wait until Monday.  The buffer is a T2, which is the same as what I have in my 14.5"
The BCG that I have in there now is from Youngs, which I don't believe was intended for full-auto, but odds are good I'll switch it out to my BCM, which is.  My other rifle is turning more into a SPR type build, so I think the Youngs is more well suited for that one instead.  The rail is about 9.5" long.  Hope this helps...I'll post results after I get to the range.  Believe me, I'm dying to shoot this.

With all due respect, I am well aware of what the UBR cost.  I have every intention of using the rest of it later.  What's your point?  Not trying to be an ass, but I don't understand your point.

I love it. Haters gonna hate.
Now make it a real grey line gun and put .a VFG on it. It looks over 26" I am thinking of doing this on my pistol.... its 27.2 inches. Have not decided yet...

Happy to report a successful sighting-in and range day.  Got to put 140 rounds through her earlier today, and she was flawless.  Have to admit it's a little tougher to be accurate than the larger AR I'm used to, but once I sighted the Aimpoint in, it wasn't too hard to keep everything within a small circle in a dark 25 yard indoor range.  Looking forward to getting some outdoor time with this on private property.  The trigger is absolutely wicked on this, and I'm dying to try some rapid fire shots.  This was 20 shots at just under 25 yards, and yes I adjusted the sights accordingly.  Didn't have a chance to take a pic of the final target.

Thanks for the update. just got my barrel and a few more parts coming in tomorrow. Once i have mine finished i have to mate it with the lower at my ffl and start the 10 day wait
lots of hoops in CA for a pistol AR. good news is the assault weapons ban got vetoed by the governor.
