Ive been reading some posts and have desided for my second build to do a pistol.
Im going with a 7.5in spikes, and have been getting my parts list ready. Heres where the questions begin from what i under stand as long as a striped lower has never had a buttstock its ok to use in a Pistol, then why would some one buy the SLP-15 stripped pistol lower for $179.00 when you could buy the SL-15 stripped rifle lower for $89.00 other than it says PIstol on the SLP-15?? Im sure there will be more questions but i have to start some where Thanks guys |

To be fair, they are both $179.95 and one just happens to be on sale.
But to answer the question, the same reason some would pay $249.95 to get a pirate on the side, I suppose. Ultimately, though, it doesn't matter what it says on the lower; any new stripped lower will do, just like you thought. Some might also believe that "pistol" might help law enforecment figure out what the "durn" thing is in case the question ever was asked. Looks more official if it's engraved on the side than if you just write it on there with a crayon, to each his own but not required. Oh, and by the way, had the jolly roger had bones instead of swords, I would of been all over it. Too bad. |
| I just built my pistol lower last night with the $80 spikes lower, had my ffl register it as a "reciever" on my 4473. for added security I just snapped a photo of the virgin reciever with the parts kit next to it than another of it assembled to keep for my records. |
| Well guys I got the bug and have started my build. I got my stripped DTI lower and put it together with a DPMS LPK. I had an old carbine buffer tube that I filled the bottom with some rock hard puddy and drilled and tapped the bottom to put machine screws in so it wouldn't allow a stock to be put on. For the upper I am going to order a complete DTI flat top. I orderd a DEZ arms 7.5 in barrel and gas tube. I am going to use a low pro gas block with a 9" Troy TRX FF Rail and a PWS CQB Supressor.... Still trying to figure out the optic but I think that I am going to go with a new Trijicon RMR. I also have some ACE replacement foam to put on the buffer. |
