This is my first post. As a house warming gift, a friend of mine gave me one of these - brand new in the box. Paperwork, manual, mags, etc. I haven't seen this before, but I am not an AR15 expert. I was wondering if anyone has any info on this (year of manufacture, value, etc.). The green tag fell off the end of the box, but I kept it. Serial Number GS00xxxx. Also, there seems to be some solidified gun grease??? You can see it in some of the photos. Any suggestions for removing this? Thanks, Dave

Thanks for the gun scrubber tip. I'll pick some up today. By "Holy Grail" I take it that it is a sought after model? Any idea of the value. Thanks, Dave Berfore using gun scrubber on a painted surface. Test a small area first. Looks like duracoat with a clear coat on top. You could haze the finish of the clear. I would use CLP and Q-tips, rub into stains, let soak for 10 min, then wipe off with clean cloth. Nice rifle. Welcome |
| Thanks! That's the way it came in the Box. I had an AR-15 HBAR in the mid to late '80s. I sold it when California banned them. I was sorry I did. When I moved to Utah, guess what? Almost no firearm restrictions. SBR, SBS, Full Auto, Silencers, etc, were advertised and the Feds were the only hurdle to deal with. Anyway, I received this and am now a happy owner. |

True...GS could harm the finish..
CLP should do the trick.... I use the Syn. Safe GS, nothing else...Be sure to oil it well after cleaning... If it does harm the finish, you can always duricoat it again... I have a couple of lowers I am thinking of doing in FDE....That color is sweet.. |

Yikes! It came from the factory this way. I am not familiar with duricoat. Where would you buy it?
I like the color and design. I am used to seeing the black AR15, or the Bushmaster Camo finish. Do you know what the "Z" stands for on the front of the magazine well? http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn62/dyoungpr/z.jpg |
