| Hello to all as this is my first post. I don't have a spectacular opening narrative for you, but just another boring newbie question... so here it goes. I'm looking to purchase my first black gun. I've found a Colt 6920 M4 for $1500, NIB with one 30 round magpul, 16" barrel, and a Roger's Super Stock. Is this a decent gun at this price, or would I be better of looking for a Bushmaster, DPMS, etc., instead. They would be a bit cheaper from what I've seen. I like the fact it's a Colt, but I've read some models are licensed rather than actually made by Colt. Thanks in advance from the newbie. |

As far as I know the most prevalent Colt "Licensed" model on the market right now is the 6900. 6920 is manufactured by Colt and is produced to their high standards. IMHO $1500 is wayy too high for that rifle though, as has been said $1200 would be about my tops on that rifle, and IIRC a few places have had them in stock recently for a little less than that.
Of course, it is your money though, and if you really want a black rifle RIGHT NOW then you won't go wrong buying a 6920. |

Find one for $1200 now in stock!!! Good Luck.
My best advice is for you to read this forum cover to cover. By the time you are half way through you would have read aprox 100,000 threads that ask the same exact question as you are asking with the same exact replies. If you are possibly going to sell the rifle the Colt will always bring more money. Simply because people recongnize the name. If resale isn't a factor you worry about look at companies like Spikes, BCM, PSA etc...... These are top shelf rifles, but without the extra cost of the name. Right now is the worst time to buy a AR because of the panic situation. But if you have to have it now be prepared to pay the extra cost. Prior to the panic the 6920 was a $1,000 rifle, how much it is worth for you to have it now, only you can answer. Read, read and then read some more. |

Thanks for all the responses. I definiately understand the panic price is built into almost everything right now. I've been researching for about a month, read alot, confused myself many times, and I feel I would be happy with a Colt. This model also has what I want in an AR. I just don't want a knock of licensed model I'v read so much about. The price was the next issue. Good to know 1500 is high. I'll make this guy an offer and hopefully have a gun soon.

Semper Fi Welcome aboard. I commend you for researching and asking questions instead of just out right buying one at an inflated price to only figure out you could have gotten a better deal. I picked up a 6920 for $1150 towards the end of Jan and it was definitely tougher at that time to find anything in stock at normal pricing. Definitely takes patience now-a-days with the way things are but, good luck on your quest. |

Find one for $1200 now in stock!!! Good Luck. ...In Stock right now at Clyde Armory.com for $1149...I didn't even have to read arf.com from cover to cover, just went to Colt in the Industry section...Prices on rifles are ALMOST back down to normal. OP, you won't have to look too far to find a 6920 at a fair price. Great rifle! Good luck |
