Hey guys,
This is my first post on this site. I am a regular at brianenos.com and 1911forum.com. This site appears to be AWESOME! I started researching this site a few days ago, because I wanted to buy a personal AR-15 (I have a Bushmaster M4 issue by the State of Texas). The 6.8 SPC looked very nice to me. Anyway, I have been researching/shopping the net for one for the last few days. However, today I received a call and was given (issued) a brand new DPMS 308 along with a brand new Trijicon Reflex sight. Obviously, it won't belong to me, but I will be able to use it like it is mine, as long as I'm stationed in this County. I've read a few bad things about DPMS on here and would appreciate any advice you have regarding their 308s. Once I qualify with this, it will be carried in my trunk and I would like to know about any shortcomings in may have. |

Your in the right place for answers on the DPMS 308. I wish I could help but I do not own a DPMS 308, however the 6.8 I can answer many questions for you ;) I hear and read many good things about the DPMS 308 but without actual time behind the gun, I will defer to those with first hand accounts. |

Shoot it and see how YOU like it. There will be as many opinions as there will be people posting them. Either way you are in a win-win-win situation.
You are supplied the gun = WIN You are probably supplied the ammo = WIN If it does not work out for you then "they" will probably issue you something different at no cost to you = WIN. You get all the benefits with none of the costs - YES I AM JEALOUS!! |

Welcome to this site! I too am sorry not to be able to offer 1st hand information on the .308, but strongly second the concept of getting it out there and shooting it. Become the expert on your rifle, and it's likes and dislikes. Be aware of what ammunition it likes, and if issue si all that is available... better yet. Don't expect miracles, but do expect reliability. Good luck, and beware the children that frequent this otherwise heavenly site. |

| I picked up the DPMS this morning and will sight it in sometime today. It is the model without the dust cover or brass deflector. I am left handed and have never shot an AR without the deflector. Does anyone know if it will hit me in the face? I don't care about my shoulder or chest, but the face could be distracting. |
