Hey guys, I'm fairly new to the AR world (about 8 months into my "education") and I'm building an SBR as my first build. I know someone will probably say that's a bit bold, but that's what I'm doing because I want it for home defense. (I've read a lot about how rifle rounds are less likely to OP than handgun rounds, plus who wouldnt want a long gun for HD?) Anyway, I'm stuck on trying to figure out what type of gas system. I definitely want quality but reasonably so, I'm not trying to take out a loan on this... It'll have a 10.5 inch barrel so I'm definitely looking at a pistol length system I think. Any suggestions are welcome. I'm not set on DI, but I'm leaning that way because I don't mind cleaning and don't want to have to worry about CT or messing up my buffer tube.

Thanks!

another option you may or may not have considered is building an AR pistol. that way you can use the pistol length gas system and still have something small enough for HD, and you wont have to register it to the ATF. just my $0.02

10.5 and 11.5 run on a carbine gas system typically.
