In attempt to build something similar to what I carry as my duty weapon (M4, VITAL-2, Aimpoint M68, Aimpoint 3X, Knights RAS, Grip) and improve upon it, here's what I've planned to put together and a few questions..

* All things in bold are already purchased so I'm stuck with them.

Lower Build:
Stock: LMT SOPMOD
Buffer/Spring: RRA
Lower Reciever: RRA
Trigger: RRA Match 2-Stage
Trigger Guard: MagPul Enhanced
Pistol Grip: MagPul MAID
Saftey: RRA Ambi
Mag Release: Norgon Ambi

Upper Build:
Upper Reciever: LMT
BUIS: Troy Flip-Up
Charging Handle: PRI Gas Buster
BCG: LMT Enhanced (Auto or Semi???)
Barrel: Noveske 14.5 w/ Standard Front Sight Post
Comp: KAC M4 QD COMP
Hand Guard: LaRue Tactical 7.0
Rail Covers: TangoDown
Vertical Grip: TangoDown

Optics:
Aimpoint M3 (2 MOA)
LaRue Cantilever CompM2 (LT129)
Aimpoint 3X
Undecided on the mount for the 3X

Thats about it I think.. Useage for this gun are pretty much everything. Basicly I want to build a universal weapon that serves will in just about any situation. For long range plinking I plan to build a SPR clone. But that'll come once I recover from the build cost of this rifle.

Any thoughts/suggestions/comments/ideas/ect..? I'm really having trouble deciding between the Colt M4A1 barrel and the Noveske. I'm sure the Noveske will offer more in the accuracy department especially at extended ranges, which wouldn't hurt since I am building a "short" rifle. I like the idea of still being able to reach out and put a hurting on something if need be.

If you are going with a 3X, I really like the Samson Quick Flip mount.  It was designed around an ARMS 22M68 ring so the Larue won't fit quite right with it.  If it's my build, I'd go with an Eotech and 3X with Samson behind that.

Definitely go with the Quick Flip mount.  You won't be disappointed.

Both the Noveske and Colt barrels would be nice but I suggest you check out the BCM 14.5" uppers. You can get one for $400, complete, and they are high pressure tested and MPI'd. You're going to pay that for just a Colt or Noveske barrel.

I think the quality of the BCM is right up there with the best and its a better value.

Just my 2 cents.

Definately a big thank you for the comments/suggestions. I just want to make sure I build it right the first time..

Quoted:

Buffer/Spring: RRA       I recomend a higher grade spring like the Speed Lock Chrome Silicon

Charging Handle: PRI Gas Buster     overpriced and only useful if your running a suppersor. Just get a RRA charging handle and a add the PRI latch.

BCG: LMT Enhanced (Auto or Semi???)   I went with the auto. The extra weight is nice in a carbine.

Barrel: Colt M4A1 or Noveske 14.5 w/ Standard Front Sight Post (This is the big question...)      Neither is a bad choice. I'd buy based on price.

Aimpoint 3X  Undecided on the mount for the 3X   I'm with the others. The Samson is the best mount going for the magnifier.

Awesome stuff.. Thanks for taking the time to share.

After some thought and looking at the price difference between the two barrels, I went ahead and ordered my Noveske barrel today. The prices weren't that much different so I wen't with it.

Good stuff. And again, Thanks for taking the time.
