| This is my first ar and I built it. Feels good. Put evrything together and noticed when I close the bolt it leaves a small gap. Its right around a 1/8th inch gap. This being my first ar I'm not sure if this is normal/acceptable. I'm slightly nervous about shooting it for the first time so better safe than sorry. No go/no go gauges btw. What does evryone think? Thanks! |
| Annodizing isn't an exact science. I don't know the full details, but basically the voltage and current and dye all make each individual batch very hard to copy. There's usually variation between batches, some too dark some too light. Take a look at the FN SCARs, the FDE ones. |
| That's actually the carrier, and not what you measure headspace off of. If you have some dummy rounds, cycle them through and see if the bolt goes fully into battery. If it does, you know your headspace isn't too short. Measuring if headspace is too large is where it gets tricky without go/nogo/field gages. |

I don't have any real hands on experience with many parts outside of the receivers and bolt. I was shocked by how little the MI rail weighs. I mostly shoot a Mini-14 so I'm excited to see what this rifle can do. I put that same handguard on a friends rifle a month ago. I was surprised how strong and light it was too. It's a solid rail. Get some back up iron sights on there and shoot it. It's going to kick your Mini-14's ass in accuracy; and in pretty much every other way too. |

Did you upgrade the trigger, OP? Not yet. I was going to put a RRA 2-stage match in but decided not to do that yet. Like I said before I don't have much hands on experience so I've never used a single stage and wanted to see what it's like. The Mini has a two stage so I'm familiar with it and wanted to be able to compare the two, and have an extra trigger for a later build. Who knows, I might absolutely love or hate a single stage. Yeah don't get me wrong I love the Mini, I think it's a great rifle and I bought it because I love the action/style. But this has be a bit giddy haha. Sights are on the way, scope will be taken off the Mini (I prefer irons on pretty much anything anyways). |

I sold off my last optic last year that was on my Recce because I like shooting the back up irons (Troy's) on it better and I hated the extra 2+ pounds the 3x9x40 Burris and matching QD rings added. If I ever get another optic it's going to have to be something super light. |
