Ok I have a few problems. Im having trouble getting the take down detent into the slot for the forward pivot pin any suggestions? Also my bolt catch is to tight, so should I get a belt sander and sand part of it until it swivels smoothly, because right now it is so tight that after the mag is empty the magazine spring is not even strong enough to push the bolt catch up to lock the bolt to the rear! Please help for anybody will be great. Has anyone else had issues like this before? Thanks.

I'ld go right to the cutting torches.  No use fuckin around.

That front pivot pin detent and spring can be a problem I hear.  I've never had that much difficulty.  Do it under a sheet of dry cleaning plastic so your detent and spring don't get launched into oblivion.  Get the spring and detent in place and then compress it down in there with something small, stiff and flat from the inside and the slide the pivot pin in as you pull your "something" out.  An extra set of hands can sure help.

As far as the bolt catch goes I'ld just work it with you fingers for a while.  On brand new stuff the anodizing, hard coat, what ever you call it, is kind of gritty and after it gets worked a little bit it smooths right out.  Perhaps just take it apart and cleaning it out, work it, lube it up, clean it again would be a better first try.

I had the same pivot pin problem on the rifle I am building now.  The detent would hang up in the hole, but would not ride in the slot.  I compared the pin with a pin off another rifle and found that it was not cut wide enough.  I tried to make the slot wider, but eventually ended up getting a replacement.  Contact the seller or buy another.

As for the Bolt Catch, it depends on why it is hanging up.  Did it function smoothly in the slot before installtion?  If not, then it is probably machined out of spec and sanding/filing the edges (not the part that rides in the magwell) should take care of the problem.  If so, then the part probably got bunged up when it was installed.  Pull the part and see what the problem is.

I had the same problem with my front pivot pin detent, the advice I got was to cut a couple of coils off the spring so that the detent will set just alittle into the hole....makes it easier to push down with something flat and slide the pivot pin in. They make a neat little tool to do that with which if I decide to do another lower I will definately buy.

I made a makeshift little spring and detent trap out of a small cardboard box and a rag...after finding the parts twice as they flew out and up when I didn't get the pin in the hole in time lol.

I bought the tool from Brownells, and I gotta say it's very handy.  You can certainly do it without it, but you want to make sure you figure out some way to catch the pieces if they come flying out.

I had to cut a couple of coils off my last Model 1 kit spring...it was a hair too long to compress enough to allow the detent to clear the hole on the way down.  Went together easy after I did that.

I have built dozens of these things.  Just cut a little off the spring, no harm and no foul.
