well my first build is already having issues.. i got sent a 4rail gas block instead of the normal front sight gas block. i know it's more pricey but i'm old school and i like iron sights. for some f'n reason the state police said that the background check is going to take 7days.. 7 days background check ,WTF!! does anyone know how i can speed this up..? who can i call to bitch at? thanks |

Why are the state police doing your background check? In GA, it's the FBI/NICS (NICS - Nat'l Instant Criminal Background Check System), and it takes about 30 seconds online or 10 minutes on the phone. Does the railed block have something to do with the delay, or was it just weighing on your mind before you posted? I like iron sights too, so I wouldn't be okay with just a gas block and no provision for a front sight either. EDIT: Nevermind. Looks like you're at the mercy of the state cops. I'd vote for pro-gun candidates and/or move to a less-restrictive state, if I were you.

FFL did the call.. and they were running it and one of the officers in the background told the one on the phone that results will be out on the 14th. which i know is absolutely bullsh!t. Just becuase i have nothing on my record, dosent mean there's something fishy. it just means i'm a good law obidding citizen. i'm about to call the local Dpt. and see if i can B!%^H at them |
| i got an assembled upper half.. so the onlt thing missing is the lower receiver.. it's just pissing me off that they said it's going to take 1 week for a lousy 10 second background check. i just called the main office for oreon state police and got transfered to some dept. and just go a voice mail. so i left a message. This is making me upset that it's taking so much time.. i should have just bought a used AR that ways i wouldnt have to deal with background checks.. |

Not trying to rain on your parade or make you even mader but 7 days probably means 7 BUSINESS days. IF you buy a gun and your NICS gets flagged they have 3-5 BUSINESS days so if you buy on a thursday you will not be good to go until monday to wensday. Some dealers will release at the 3day mark others will wait the whole five just to make sure they do not need to call you back in. Might want to check on that as well. In the future buy multiple guns at once if this is the case cin your state. |
Definitely! Have you looked at how much a front sight to go on that railed gas block is going to cost you? They screwed up, not you, so make them take it back at their expense for a replacement (they should send a label or give you a shipping account number for UPS/Fedex to charge it to) while you wait on the fuzz to clear up the background check on their end. |
You know, ifyou want a regular front sight and instead end up putting bolt on front sight on a gas block, maybe functionally it's the same, but it just ain't the same, know what I mean? |

yeah.. i'm debating if i should keep it or not, since it's more expensive w/ gas block. this it my first AR so i'm not even sure what i want or need..( i kind of want everykind of AR at the moment).. so i want iron sight, and i want a scope.. but a scope is probably more practical. so far i'm thinking off... scope iron sight( buis or fixed, not sure) bi-pod 4 rail hand gaurd vertical handle xenon light, green laser sight custom stock..( will have to come up with a design then build it) sling i'v done sharpshooting for many years, so at times i get bored with iron sights, but deep down inside i still love them about the background check.. what bothers me is i know i have a 100% clean Criminal, driving and parking record .. you cannot get any better.. so why all this wait |
| i just got of the phone with the head of the criminal records dept at the State police and she said that it's odd that i was told 1 week.. gave her my SSN and she said hopefully that would speed it up to 3~4 days... i guess i can thank the Clinton administration for this.. yippe |
i'm ending up keeping it.. i 'm going to mount a bipod any ways.. so the 4 rail gas block would be a nice strong sturdy point to mount it |
| i would scratch the green laser off your list....they're cool alright but good luck getting it zero'd and secondly good luck keeping it zero'd. also there are a lot of delicate parts that go into the internals of green lasers and probably won't withstand being mounted on your rifle. |
The China-tastic ones are reportedly junk, and the nice ones are EXPENSIVE! |
Paintball guns are sweet these days. My cheapo Brass Eagle Tigershark pump-action paintball gun back in the day was super-duper, but I'd get murdered with the rigs they have now.
