First lower build - here are my thoughts:
- forgot to put the spring and buffer in on the bolt catch. Driving that pin back out was a royal PITA. Managed to get it out, after grinding down a punch and layering electrical tape over the lower. No damage. - the remainder of the assembly was pretty painless. As others have mentioned, the "dummy round" with the Magpul STR stock is dumb ... all chewed up, and ended up using a screwdriver for that part. - despite the warnings, getting the takedown pins and springs in was easy. Couple of questions: - the front of the trigger guard on this lower is not threaded; anyone know what tap size I need to thread it for the set screw on the Magpul trigger guard? - on the PSA lower kit, the safe/fire selector is off by about 5-10 degrees. The detents don't line up correctly with the selector itself. Anyone had similar problems? Thanks |

First lower build - here are my thoughts: - forgot to put the spring and buffer in on the bolt catch. Driving that pin back out was a royal PITA. Managed to get it out, after grinding down a punch and layering electrical tape over the lower. No damage. You didn't dry-fit the bolt catch and you probably didn't read or watch any AR build videos. You're lucky you didn't have collateral damage....that's one RP you only want to drive once. - the front of the trigger guard on this lower is not threaded; anyone know what tap size I need to thread it for the set screw on the Magpul trigger guard?
As stated above, the receiver ear is not threaded....it's the Magpul trigger guard that the set screw threads into. Better read up on that install............or just buy the Grip of Shame now. - on the PSA lower kit, the safe/fire selector is off by about 5-10 degrees. The detents don't line up correctly with the selector itself. Anyone had similar problems?
Your safety selector is out of spec. |
