Sorry for the dumb question but it is something I don't know and I need to find out.
I just ordered my first A3 and have never had to deal with rail mounted optics before. I am looking at getting an Aimpoint and would like the 3x magnifier also.
Say I want to take the magnifier off, do I have to slide the Aimpoint to the back of the rail, and will this mess up the zero?
Will it hold a good zero if you take it off the rail and put it back on later?
Thanks

^ if you get larue mounts it will return to zero, other than that, your pretty much SOL, for getting it to return to zero. I dont get what you questions is with sliding of the aimpoint.

Say this guy wants to take off the magnifier and use only the aimpoint, he would have to move his Aimpoint to the back of the rail to shoot right? Will he then have to re zero it?

Nope. Leave the Aimpoint forward.  The red dot sight is non-magnifying. Red dot speeds up acquisition. I see too many people using it like a scope..one eye, encroahced on it.

ya, just leave the aimpoint in place, the magnifier goes behind it.
