I finally had a chance to shoot my carbine which I converted to the Adams system some months ago. My setup is a mix of brandnames:
DPMS lower w/ Rock River Lower Parts Kit Bravo Company upper CMMG 14.5 midlength lightweight barrel with permanent phantom Adams midlength conversion w/Adams one-piece bolt carrier (my bolt has a Defender in the extractor, but I'm not totally sure about what variant spring and insert) Miad grip MOE stock with standard carbine buffer and spring DD midlength Omega forend DD front sight/ Larue rear sight I had 250 rounds of mixed loads in PMAGS (mostly 30 rounders with a couple 20 rounders). The idea was to go through the ammo quickly as a shakedown run. The order I shot was: 30 rounds IMI Samson 55gr. JHPBT 30 rounds IMI Samson 55gr. SPBT 60 rounds Federal 223C 55gr. BTHP 64 rounds Wolf 55gr. FMJ (Not sure if it was laquered or polymer coated). These rounds were shot in about a 30 minute time period.Everything was great until the Wolf stuff. In the first magazine of Wolf I had about 3 rounds early in the mag that seemed weak. They ejected but didn't send the bolt back far enough to properly strip the next round. After the sixth round of the mag, the rest fired and functioned correctly. The next mag of Wolf worked fine. The Wolf seems to vary in its power level. Some of it seems about like Federal American Eagle and some of it barely sends the buffer to the back of the tube (the IMI Samson was by far the hottest of what I shot). At the 64th round of Wolf I had a failure to extract. I had other basic gun care items in my box but no cleaning rod. Sesson over. Got home and popped the case out of the chamber with a couple solid raps of a cleaning rod. The case had a lot of specs of either powder residue or laquer residue on it. Not sure. Have others experienced this with Wolf ammo? I would at least like to use up the remainder of my case of Wolf for cheap practice once in a while until I get rolling on reloading. I might get a Bravo company extractor upgrade kit and give the Wolf one more chance. Any feedback, info or comments appreciated. Mainrotor |

Some guys say wolf is ok with their rifles, some say it sucks. I won't use it because of the lack of QC. And I'm not keen to be shooting steel on steel (case/chamber). Of course someone will chime in one way or the other. The long and short is I would not use wolf. |

I haven't had any problem with Wolf in my Adams systemed AR.(carbine length) Runs fine. Not the best ammo out there, but solid enough to shoot. I think you should give your action a little time loosen up OP. Make sure nothing is fighting dry friction too and grease up the carrier, the receiver, the op rod and springs, and the buffer assembly. It's only going to help it run smoother and not going to do any harm. |

Thanks everyone for the input. I think the mags of Wolf I had were a mix of black box and military classic. All I have left is the military classic. I thoroughly cleaned the chamber. There wasn't much to clean from the bolt carrier except the specs of red stuff (sealant?) around the bolt and in the firing pin channel. Bolt carrier, buffer, and buffer tube are greased. I think I will get the Bravo Company extractor spring upgrade kit before the next range session. Again thanks to all for the help. I'll just keep collecting the brass stuff to get reloading since the brass cased ammo has worked without issue.
