Well 2 weeks before the idiocy started I was fortunate enough to pick up a FDE Sig 716 and 8 P mags. I stripped, cleaned and lubed everything and just yesterday got to take her out for a ride. I had a pretty good mixed bag of ammo. A box of steel (Tula?), a box of federal 150 gr sp, Remington core lokt, Hornady superformance, one of Winchester powerpoints (I think), and about 30rds of radway that I had on hand.
The range was an indoor range with a maximum of 75 yds. I have no optic so was using the factory BUiS's. They are functional but that is about it. With my poor eyes and no optic I did not try to seriously evaluate accuracy but was able to shoot 1.5" groups with all of the varieties. I started with the steel cased ammo and it ran flawlessly, as did all of the ammo. No hiccup, malfunction, or anomaly of any kind. I am very pleased with the rifle. Cons; it is heavy, BUiS's are functional but that is about it, and the trigger is gritty, guesstimate a 5-6lb trigger pull ( functional but will put in a nice trigger) Pros; solid rifle, like the rail fore end, flawless first range trip, I like the furniture it came with, 308 what's not to like !! This will be my new woods gun. I know it is a bit heavy when compared to a 223 but it speaks with such authority. On the search for the scope now. Overall I am pleased with the purchase. Doc |
