I've downloaded the tutorial and know someone that's built before so I'm confident about my success.  I've got a couple of questions though.

First, since I'm building a 20" rifle, I don't think I need M4 feed ramps but what's the difference?

Also, do I need some type of riser or high rise upper to get my scope high enough.

Thanks,

Paul

You don't need "M4" feedramps on any AR variant.  They all will function with or without them.  A standard A2/A4 does not have them.  It will not hurt to have them though if you decide you want them.  The rifle will function either way.

If you are going to mount a scope, just get scope rings that are high enough for the scope to fit on the rifle, and high enough that you can see through the scope.  You shouldn't need any special upper or attachment to get you scope high enough.  A standard flattop will work fine.

As far as the M4 feed ramps, just don't get a standard barrel extension and install on a reciever with M4 Feed ramps. Like the pic on the bottom left.

Thanks guys.  I just got off the phone with the folks at J&T.  I opted for the 20" fluted bull barrel kit.  I'm excited.

I've heard that Essential Arms has a good lower.  Anybody use them?
