| After a build, what do you look for during your first time out to the range? Looking for pin/nut creep? Abnormal marks on casings/primers? Or do you just shoot and have fun? |

I look inside for any wear marking.
after its good and hot i make sure things haven't gotten loose. i oil the hell out of it often during long and heavy rates of fire. re-check to see its still tight, that is i torque things up. once its been torqued while hot it won't get loose again. clean it up real good, oil it lightly and set it to be ready for immediate use. |
| First time I take a new build out I'll load 1 round in a mag and make sure the gun locks back on an empty mag. I'll repeat that a few times. Shoot a few rounds, give it a visual inspection, make sure no pins have walked and that the muzzle device is tight. Then shoot for fun. |

1st time out, usually will load 1, shoot, watch for good extraction/ejection, bolt locks open on empty mag, load two and hold trigger, make sure only one fires, ejects spent and loads next, fire again.
Then load up and go for it, keeping a not-so-close eye on all the parts. You can hear and feel something wrong long before you see it. |
