I'm trying to install an A2 bird cage onto my ASA M4 barrel.

First, with a crush washer, the concave part goes towards the muzzle?

Second, the TM says to use a peel washer. Which is it, crush or peel?

Crush or peel, doesn't matter. A crush washer will be a bit easier to time correctly.

No idea on which way the crush goes.

concave side goes toward flash hider.

The concave side you see facing up in my illustration below, goes towards the FH.
