Can anyone explain how to change out a A2 Flash hidder and install a Phantom flash hider. Timing is not a problem, the Phantom has slots completely around it.  What tools are needed for the job???
Thanks
Tim

Use a wrench, its really that simple.

Maybe a vice if the A2 is on there pretty tight, Jethro!

Even if you don't have an action block, if you have vise, use it.  When I need to do something quick, I just wrap a towel on my upper and into the Vise it goes.

You'll need a crush or peel washer too.  I recommend the crush washer.

Put it on the couch or floor, and sit on it.....

You can heat the A2 with a torch to help it loosen.
Don't heat it red hot.

Put he barrel in the vise jaws, heat the flash hider a little all the
way around and try the wrench. Keep doing that until the flash hider
comes off without the barrel trying to spin in the jaws. the principle
is to get the metal in the A2 to expand away from the barrel, so you
don't need a lot of heat. I read that advice in this forum. It works!

DO NOT use an action block (which clamps the upper receiver) for changing flash hiders and comps.  If you need assistance, use Barrel Vise Jaws on the barrel.

I took mine off by putting an armorers wrench on the flash hider, and stabilizing the upper and lower between my legs.  Came of wthout too much effort.  Put it back on the same way, but a bit tighter.  I used the same crush washer, as I was told on this site it would be fine, but haven't shot it to check it out yet.  Seems pretty straight forward operation, but I'm new to AR's so someone chime in and tell me where I messed up.
