Hello All,
The attached picture is my first attempt at putting together an AR-15 Pistol. I have added Magpul Flip-Up Sights since this photo was taken and am now in the market for a Folding Stock Adapter. Are there other options outside of the Law Tactical Adapter or is that really the only way to go for quality? I originally was not expecting adapters to be at such a high price point but everywhere I look recommends only going with a Law Tactical. AR-15 Pistol Photo Thank you in advance for any advice. | There are no folding stocks for a regular AR which leave the rifle functional (for more than one shot, at least). You need a custom system like the discontinued Para TTR/ZM Weapons or OA-93, or some other new offerings which move the recoil system entirely into the upper in order to have an AR-variant which is functional with the stock folded. It's possible with a 22 subcaliber bolt, though, since that doesn't need to use the receiver extension, recoil spring and buffer. |

If I am only wanting the stock to fold for concealment and transport purposes and will only be shooting it with the brace (stock) unfolded what would you recommend? Do you have any experience with those adapters and are there good options outside of the Law Tactical Adapter? Similar to the attached link below. Law Tactical Folding Adapter |

All my folding stocks are factory options on the platforms that have them, excepting that I use Ace folding stocks on my Daewoo and one of my AKs, so I don't have experience with any of the AR folder options.
As I understand things, only the Law Tactical leaves the regular AR functional, at least when it's it's not folded, so that's where I'd be looking. If I were seriously looking for a folding AR for myself, I'd probably contrive to fit an Ace folder to an EXTAR-EXP556 pistol and make it an SBR. |

I am definitely a fan of RRA - can't go wrong with them. The bolt and trigger kit are what I run in my AR. Just upgraded the trigger springs to JP and it all works as smooth as butter.

See below, There have been some other "partial buffer" or "short buffer" folder options before that one, too. I didn't include them anymore than I did the collapsing stock solutions like the Vltor A5, which get slightly shorter without being a full folder. Guess that's just my bias. |

Not sure since Ive never saw one in person..
From the pics I would say the MCS extend about 9-10 cm from the end plate.. My CAR stock is 17 cm long.. So, are 7-8 cm of length worth 500 bucks? Not for me. Quoted:
Are you sure? It looks to be only a few inches from the upper. I wish there are more extensive test of this. Again, I wonder if materials will make this more reliable than the previous 1911 spring'ed solutions. |

OP please take a look at the dead foot arms product. It uses a modified bolt and spring assembly and IS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO ALLOW YOU TO FIRE YOUR WEAPON FROM EITHER THE OPEN OR FOLDED POSITION. it is available in right /left hand , and in AR 10 configuration. They also make a version for a pistol that has no folding stock on it. I have used this product on a few of my own rifles and it is a totally superior product compared to any other option that I AM AWARE OF. Meaning that there may be some one else who has a similar offering but I have not come across it yet. I will post up a picture of my pistol with the DFA kit on it tomorrow. |
