I frequently read from a couple different forums and news feeds and I stumbled on a topic on ar15news titled "Law Tactical AR Folding Stock Adapter Gen 2". Ever since then I have been looking at various Rifles including the SCAR 17s.
The questions I have are: 1. Is it legal to have a folding stock on a 16" barreled AR-15? If yes, should I be watching out for any federal laws as far as length goes? 2. Is it legal then to purchase a SCAR 17s, without being LE / Military due to the integrated folding stock? Does this require a tax stamp or other hoops to jump through? 3. Would I have to carry around extra paperwork with rifle? I live in Nebraska, I Just fully assembled my 2nd AR-15 3 months ago. I do not have a trust setup or have I been through the Tax Stamp process. Thank you for your time. |

1. yes it is legal... if the folding stock is on an AR it cant be fired anyways, the only length that matters is the barrel length,, not total length or anything like that.
2.folding stocks are ok but if it was like a SCAR with a 10 inch barrel then you would need a tax stamp 3.nope. if you want a folding stock just get an ak |

Length is measured with the stock open and fully extended. |
