[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Forging cracks

I took a good overall look at one of my lowers made by a very highly regarded name and found these small cracks in the forging. Has anyone ever came across this before.

Are you sure its not cracks in the finish? I have read of one of the highly regarded name brands having cracks in the finish much like in your picture.

They may be what is called "forging laps" and not really cracks. Dye check them and see if they are really cracks.

Those are not cracks. They are imperfections in the finish. Sometimes this can happen when a part is improperly prepped before the finish is applied. There is no problem with your receiver and this will not hurt functionality. If it bothers you, though, you can have it refinished.

I'll bet that was one of the slight cosmetic defect Noveskes wasn't it? Those are not cracks.
