I just built a .223 AR15 with an "Essential Arms" lower. My Father in law has a Colt but his Forward Takedown pin has a bolt with a screw where the detent and spring goes... I have looked and searchd this forum but to no eval... Please help!!! Thanks!!!! |
What are you asking? A foward takedown pin for your rifle? A forward takedown pin for your father in law? And if for his rifle, is the screw 1/4 inch or 8mm or? ?????? |

ok, Your Essential Arms lower has std. take down pins at both the front and rear. At this point, almost all uppers and lowers will have this type of configuration. Back a few years Colt didn't want civvies to be able to use surplus M16 parts so they decided to use the split screw arrangement in lieu of the front pivot pin. They also changed the hammer and trigger pin diameters on many lowers. What this means if I read your question correctly is that in order to swap uppers like the colt(w/the split-screw arrangement) onto your essential or the opposite direction swap would require adapter bushings to make up the differences in the front pivot pin diameters. These used to be widely available. I'd check brownells, midway, etc. HTH Blitz |
