I finally managed to get to the range the other day with the CAV-15 RRA 20" flattop upper. Set up with a Bushnell 6-18 scope, and a variety of hand loads the results were interesting. My 55 FMJBT loads ahot about 2" at 100 yards. I'm not worried about his because its just plinker ammo. I had a bunch of 68Gr, gunshow junk that didnt shoot worth a darn, but i know it wouldnt. Last time out i chronoed it out of my Savage 10FP and it was a little on the warm side. 68 Gr,Hornady HPBT match @3270FPS...Hmmmm. Best load was an after thought load i threw together just to try a couple. 5 shots went into just over an inch, with 4 of the 5 coming in at a pleasing .550" The load was a 52 Gr. Hornady A-MAX bullet pushed by 25.5 Gr of Win 748 powder. Luckily i kept the last 2 to take dimensions off of so they can be duplicated for the next range test session. Needless to say i am pleased with the results. Just mounted my Leupold 8.5-25x40 Target on it for the next round. Looks real tough sitting on there....:) KyARGuy |
