| Anyone have a personal favorite? I am purchasing a BCM complete upper minus hand guards and would like to install a free float two piece rail. What do you think? Will they be as reliable as the screw on hand guard? I have installed a free float on an RRA where the FSB and flash hider had to be removed, but I know the BCM FSB will be harder to remove and I am just trying to eliminate possible problems since this is to be my go to. |
| The other easy on no/minimum mod free float is the VLTOR CASV-EL. Bit wider and not as low profile as the DD Omega. But it gives you a continuous top rail from receiver to FSB/ gas block. Will need to take of the front sling swivel (which is useless for a FF anyway). |

There are plenty of very good quality 2pc FF rails out there that do not cost $300+.... just look around As long as it fits and is solid, there really is no reason to spend a stupid amount on a plain old railed FF handguard. Since there are plenty out there show us the ones that are as solid as the Omega. |

I understand what you are saying, they are expensive. Carbine length can be found for $199 on sale sometimes. I just don't know of any others that compare. There are Troys, but they are expensive, too and you need to make modifications, but nice rails. I guess MI is probably making some, but again with modifications and I have never used them, so I don't know if they are a good deal.
If the OP wasn't in need of FF and/or was willing to remove the FSB for install there are a lot more reasonable priced options. I think the DD EZ Car is a nice two piece rail, locks up like the Omega, is half the price, but not FF. |

It even has a removable lower rail for access to the barrel for cleaning or installation of a M203 It's only issue is that it weighs several ounces more than the Omega. |
