I plan on making a integral 9mm upper for my AR-15. My suppressor is a 1-1/2" suppressor which is about 1/4 inch larger than most 9mm suppressors. What is the inner daimeter of a KAC rail system? Are there any other rail systems that can accomidate a 1.5" can? Thanks Mike K |
Sounds like you need a "tube" forend. The odd "+" shape of the DD and Larue makes it a little internally restrictive. PRi comes to mind, and would be my first choice in your situation. PRi tubes have a 2" OD, and they're what MSTN used when he did a run with integral suppressors. |

THE KAC ONE-PIECE FREE FLOAT HANDGUARDS ARE 1.43" INSIDE DIAMETER. THE PRI FORENDS ARE, HOWEVER, 1.74" INSIDE DIAMETER. EVEN WITH THE MOUNTING HARDWARE FOR THE RAILS, THERE SHOULD EASILY BE 1.50" CLEARANCE. I RECENTLY BUILT TWO UPPERS WITH PRI FORENDS FOR THE GUYS AT D.S.G. MAGAZINES WITH YOUR EXACT SAME PURPOSE IN MIND. THEY HAD TO TRIM THE MOUNTING HARDWARE SCREWS A BIT SO THE CANS WOULD NOT BE SCRATCHED WHEN INSTALLING THEM. A SEARCH SHOULD TURN UP THE PIX THEY POSTED. WES GRANT M.S.T.N. |
