I am currently in the process of building a varmint AR. Have a Noveske lower, Vltor MUR-1 upper, Krieger barrel on order, etc.

One thing that I cannot decide on is a free float tube. Being that the part is so basic;does anyone see any advantage of going with a JP, or YHM over a less expensive alternative like the DPMS? The only requirements that I have are that it be made from aluminum and that it is vented. I wont be using rails on this rifle so I'm not considering railed tubes. Tubes that can have rails added like the JP and YHM are fine.

Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

The basic tube is what you need...spend your latinum where it counts.

The YHM Customizable gives you the basic tube design as well as the option to add rails at a later date if the need arises. It is also vented per your specs.

Check with Calvin at Brightflashlights in the Industry forum. He usually has the lowest prices around on YHM products. I usually get my orders within 3 days if it's in stock.

Thanks for the info. anybody know of any important design differences between different makes?

I think the JP is lighter but I may be wrong.
