It smells good, doesn't dry out, and isn't poisonous. I like it.

There a general purpose lube called "Soy Lube SL-100" that is pretty much what Frog Lube is....only a hell of a lot cheaper...Even smells the same. I use it in my Glocks.

Im not a fan, it doesn work any better than my Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W30, but it costs alot more. I have yet to find a fancy after market gul lube that works better than Mobil 1

Also my oil doesnt really smell, doesnt dry out, and isnt poisonous, its also dirt cheap.

My main thought about Frog Lube is spamming gun boards is an annoying marketing stategy.

The main difference I noted is motor oil burns off and leaves nasty coked on junk. When froglube burns off, its just gone. No residue.

I've never had an issue with synthetic motor oil burning off not leaving deposits. My experience has actually been the opposite. When used properly it keeps things wet for well over 1k rounds and prevents carbon from building up. Anyone who has worked on an engine will see the same results.....still wet inside and no carbon build up.

It takes alot of rounds to burn off motor oil. Mobil 1 takes around 500*F to burn off, the inside of my upper never gets close to that.

Look at it like this, the inline piston of the Ar-15 is basically a car engine, and if motor oil works there it works even better in a rifle.

There's some folks at my club that swear by Frog Lube.  To me, there doesn't seem to be much difference between it and Thompson Center Natural Lube 1000 with Bore Butter.  T/C NL1000 has been around forever, and is cheap.  You can buy several big tubes of it for the same price as one small bottle of Frog Lube.  Not only have I used it on my black powder rifles, years ago I used it on a Springfield Armory P9.  It worked reasonably well on it, too.  Might have kept using it for it's smell alone, but it does cake up in nooks and crannies.  And I'm not too keen on having to heat my gun with a hair dryer to make it melt down and migrate.

no lube is going to not burn off inside the cylinder of a vehicle if allowed in there. Same goes for the AR, except lube is put in this cylinder to some extent, and it also burns off. With froglube, it adds no carbon of its own at least, and it has a higher burn off temp than even larue/sprinco mg lube in my tests.

If you want to use Mobil in and on your AR, go for it. I'm not saying its not more than adequate, just what I have noticed with other synthetic petrochemicals and why I prefer the froglube.

You are correct the gas piston part does burn off lube, then again that part doesn need to be lubed.

Mobil 1 stays where its needed.

Froglube does a much better job of not migrating on my rifle when it's not in use. Both do fine when using the weapon. There is no way to properly lubricate the AR that will not result in lubricant entering the cylinder of the gas-chamber. This lubricant can either burn off and leave gunk behind, or not. I would prefer not. Mobil 1 works for you, so keep using it until you decide not to (if ever), but there are technically demonstrable benefits that Froglube brings to the table that one cannot logically, factually, make case against. Virtually zero "ash" left behind when it burns off is one of them.

The main thing i see Is most do not like frog lube and a few do and swear by it till they are blue in the face

ETA: nvm just checked the name of the people who swear by it and its only you, in every single frog lube thread.

Well, objectively, considering their sales, you're wrong. I don't care if you like it or not. I used to think it was snake-oil junk until I thoroughly tested it in a variety of ways, and it performed better as a whole than anything else I had. Your *uneducated opinion on the matter doesn't really factor to me.

*I am ASSuming that you have not run a weapon with it for a while to come to an informed conclusion, wrong?

I have been using Frog Lube for maybe a year and a half. I like it. It is all I use now. Yes it is a bit pricey but it goes a long way. I have really worked it out. I like shooting 1911s, If you shoot them much you know it is costly. Ergo I use the cheapest ball ammo I can find, Federal, Blazer Brass and so forth. With FL all the filth and gunk wipes right off. Now and again I may have to use a nylon brush just a little.  It does not gunk up on my pistols at all. Wipes clean and gets easier to clean the more I use it. I have used many ClPs over the years and this to me is the best. I just wish the USN had it for use in the 60s.
