Did you consider this when purchasing your upper? I want to eventually get an optic, but I cant decide if I want to get a middy with a 9" rail and FSA or a middy with 12" rail and no FSA.

This will primarily be a range / home defense weapon and would like to add a light. I would rather it be practical then loaded up with parts that will rarely get used.

I am of the opinion that you can never shoot irons too much and that you should be proficient with irons before depending on an optic.

I am just curious hear other opinions on this and how relevant you think a FSA is now that buis are available.

Thanks.

I say get one with a FSB.... Then that will allow you to shave that FSB to make it fit under a longer rail which in turn makes you get another upper with a FSB because again it appeals to you.  Then another lower follows ... Welcome to BRD

I started out chopping FSBs for 4 sides of rails and BUIS-stupid me. I'm back to FSB, no to min rails and light barrels.
The FSB is a masterpiece of work, will not break and is always ready and dots/scopes don't mind its there. It doesn't cost you anything.
