Hello y'all. I'm planning to put a conventional rifle scope on top of my 20" Bushy to use on a 600 yd range. It just occured to me that the front sight post is gonna be in my line of sight. I'm planning to get an Armalite one piece mount, which will not clear the sight post I don't think. Am I gonna have to remove the front sight post to use a scope? I hope not. The scopes I'm looking at are in the 4-12X mag range, if that matters. Thanks in advance as alway for any help given. Shabo |

Whew, that's a releif. Thanks for the responses. One question though, you can't see thru the front sight post, so that means you won't see anything that is in the same line as the post? Even if the focal point is beyond the end of the barrel I don't understand how you can see THRU the sight post. Sorry but I am confused, again. Shabo |

Same way some telescope designs can have that little mirror right in the middle of the scope. You will be able to see thing directly in front of the sight post. I can't really explain why, it has to do with where the focal point of the scope is. If you drew a cone form the front edges of the lens out, say 20 feet in front of the scope, you would see the front sight would only take up a little area in the cone. Essentially the scope sees around the front sight. I think that's how it works. |
