My front sight is about to screw all the way out... I have a Bushmaster I purchased in the Dissapator configuration (full lenth sight radius, 16 inch barrel) which was with out any faults. I then changed to the M4 style barrel and the rifle once again was with out any faults. My trouble began when placed the Dissapator barrel back on and zeroed the rifle. It was shooting completely off the paper and once I finally got it back to zero the front sight post was almost all the way unscrewed. I went back to the work bench and completely disassembled and then reassmebled the rifle to ensure every thing was put together properly. I went back out to the range and to my surprise the first shot was dead center, but I had not touched the front sight. The rifle is completely stock Bushy except for the rear sight, which is a RRA Dominator mount. And yes the Dominator mount is the same mount that I originally used on both the M4 and dissapator versions. Thanks in advace for your suggestion... |

If the rifle is back to normal, then you may have had something stuck in between the barrel and socket canting the barrel when it was tightened down. If the front sight is still needed to be unscrewed until it almost falls out, then the upper receiver barrel socket may have been canted by over tightening. If that is the case, and you are only using a standard front sight post, then here is a fix. www.bushmaster.com/shopping/scopes/9349056-m.asp |

I know that there is nothing stuck between the barrel and socket. On my second try I completely cleaned that entire area to ensure that wasn't my initial culprit. If overtighting is the problem, wouldn't backing the barrel nut off do the trick? Or is it canted and warped permanently? |
