I am looking for a better front take down pin than what comes from Bushmaster. Why? Because on my Varmit, the pin that holds the take down pin from comming out is bent. I did see KNS Precission has rear take down pins available but nothing for the front. Anyone know where I can get a complete front take down pin.

Thanks

I'm having a problem understanding what you're talking about here.  If I've interperated you correctly, you're saying that the detent that retains the pin is bent?  Or--?

If the detent is bent, all you need to do is buy a new detent for 50 cents, and install it.  If the takedown pin itself is somehow not right, please elucidate.

you are probably right, i am a better programmer (COBOL and JAVA) than writer.

the spring loaded pin that holds the detent pin from comming out of the receiver bends if i separate the upper from the lower to clean the upper. KNS Precision (www.knsprecisioninc.com) makes a rear detent pin replacement that looks like it would work but it is for the rear. i did a search for front replacement detent pin but everyone only makes a replacement part.

hope this is a better decription.

thanks for looking and trying to help.

I've never had your experience but since I've never seen your piece, I can't comment on you problem, or if you have one.

For your info though, KNS also makes a 1/4 inch diameter front pin that you could use.  It's spring loaded, with three little balls that you retract by pushing the lug sticking out on the right side. You insert the thing, it projects a bit out to the left, and when you release the right side, the balls are expanded to hold the thing in place. It has a flat on the right collar to clear the hump on the right side.

Given your description of what you're looking for, I think that's the best you're going to come up with.
