I just put together a 9mm RRA with a MI rear and gas block flip up front sight. I'm new to this type of sight system and shooting low with not enough adjustment available. Centering the front sight post in the rear aperature, with the front post bottomed out of adjustment, I'm still low. What's next? Shortening the front post? Thanks, Lefty.

Been there done that. Doesn't cover the issue.

What is your rear sight set at?

If it's your point-of-impact that's still low, try cranking your rear sight up a bit.  A 9mm doesn't shoot very far... definitely shouldn't wind-out an AR15 sight

ETA: My bad, your rear MI sight isn't elevation adjustable.  That could be a problem.

I need some ballistics/trajectory/trigonometry help here. If it shoots 5 inches low with   a center hold not a 6 o'clock at 25 yards with the front post bottomed out.........how much would one shorten the post to be around the center of adjustment at 75 yards?
How's that for a question? (For seriously smart people only).

Well, if you're dead set on chopping up your front sight post, there's nothing to stop you... at least you can replace it without scrapping the whole sight assembly though.

I'm pretty sure you're better off getting an adjustable rear sight.
