What am I doing wrong? I've tried 3 different A2 front sight adjustment tools (cheapo Amazon, Midway, Damage Industries) and NONE of them fit between the ears of my front sights (on any of my 4 A2 front sight uppers)! Ugh. I resorted to using both needle nose pliers (multitool) combined with a pocket knife can opener tip to depress the button (which works surprising well!... but very awkward and feel like a need a third hand haha).
Is there a trick to using those A2 front sight tools.... and am I the only one with this issue?

ETA: I should include the mentioned uppers are: 1 FN CHF/CL, 3 PSA Ptac/Freedom

Just use a 5.56 fmj round, like you're supposed to!

When teaching Armorer Courses, we occasionally come across a front sight base that is machined narrow between the front sight base ears.  You could chuck the sight tool into a drill press, spin it while holding some emery cloth or board up to it to slightly reduce the diameter of the tool.

This.

Simply polish the exterior of the sight tool just enough to fit. You can even chuck it in a hand drill to get the job done. Polish and retry until it fits. Oxpho-blue from Brownell's is the best cold blue I have ever used if you want to protect the metal.

Do you have an A2 front sight post?  I have seen A1 posts installed in weapons with A2 rear sights.
