Just picked up a LMT upper, the front sight post is marked what looks like a B inside a triangle and then a 1 outside the triangle, not F....what the heck does B1 stand for?

Not sure what the marks are, they are several codes on various FSB's. However, there are very few LMT's that have the F stamped FSB's since apparently they make their own in house & only make flat topped uppers making the need to F stamp them superfluous. Of all the FSB on my rifles have different codes & I have no idea what the refer to.

They are forge codes from the factory that forged the blanks.  They can be sold to any company and then machined into final form and installed onto a barrel.

LMT doesn't mark them. They are made in house.

My LMT FSB is marked with a B inside of a diamond all to the left of the numeral 1 but it is not F stamped as I expected. I know the they are obviously the proper height for a flat top but some folks think that non-F stamped are not.
