I have an Armalite short barreled upper that I installed flip up sights on to back up my dot sight. I have A.R.M.S  r/s and pri-mount f/'s. my problem is that the front gas block, which is M-1913 rail , is approx. 5/16" lower than the M-1913 rail on the reciever. The rifle has no problem with the red dot sight but going to the flip up it shoots about 2 feet high with no way to get enough adjustment to bring it down. What is a good combination of sights for this upper or do I get another gas block ?

You need to buy a front sight that was designed to be on a gas block.

Just because it fits on the gas block does NOT mean it is the correct height for the gas block.

The one in the link above is the correct height for a gas black, while yours is most likely designed to be mounted on a rail. Trust us.

Front sights come in two standard heights.  One for the rail height, and one for standard gas block height.  They look exactly the same, except one is a tiny teenie weenie bit taller.  Really.
