Is there any practical reason to go with a gas block/flip up front sight instead of the standard front sight?

I realize that with a flip up sight being able to be folded down, it opens up the front side of the rifle and there is a certain "Cool Factor" with that set up.   But strictly from a practical stand point......does the standard sight impair the use of a red dot or a high power rifle scope on the rifle.

The rifle I'm ordering is a flat top and  will have YHM free floated handguards.  I thought I read somewhere that when you start adding flip up sights to gas blocks on a free floated rifle...it throws off the accuracy.

By staying with the standard front sight...I can save myself nearly $150...to use on other goodies.

Thanks to all who answer.
