| I have a Bushmaster a1 front sight currently on my rifle. I need to put a 0.40 tall front sight so I can zero it with my ARMS rear sight. I do not have an a1 sight tool. How can I remove it? I put alot of break free on it and using a small allen wrench I tried to turn it and it won't budge. I need some help please, any ideas? |

You can use a small punch (my favorite) or a bullet to hold down the plunger, then turn the sight with a pair of pliers (tape the jaws if you want to avoid scraping the sight). Rotate the sight counter-clockwise. As it gets close to coming out be careful not to let the pin fly out; it's spring loaded and can travel to any hidey hole it cares to if it's not secured. [Gregory types faster than I do] |

Forget the pilers. Clean all oil off the post. Depress the detent with a small 1/16" punch and slip a short piece of aquarium air tube over the post. Twist the tube and the sight will turn easily, if not corroded. A1 sight tools will work if it is rusted/dirty but for clean sights, the tube is cheap. |
