I am getting ready to add tactical handguards and have to make a decision if I want front flip up sights or keep the Fixed sight. I base this on if I want flip up sights, I have  put a gas block with rails on it and keep my carbine length grips or add a low pro gas block with middy length grips.

I notice alot of shooters keep there fixed sights on even with optics.  I guesa it does not get in the way.  I would think with optics you would want to flip it down.  The front fixed sight does not bother me and I kind of like the look.  I may just keep it for now so I do not incur any more costs.

try it out w/ what you have now and base your decision on that

FWIW: i have no problems w/ the std FSB, with either red-dots or magnified optics, and i like the extra durability and stability of a fixed FSB

+ 1.  In a SHTF situation you only have to worry about deploying rear BUIS if your optic craps out and fixed front sights have survived the test of time and battle.  The fixed front sight never bothered me when using E O tech\red dots or magnified optics.

thanks guys, I am convinced.
I will get carbine length and leave the FSB, so I only have to purchase and optic and rear site when ready.
