| This isn't from first hand experience but Fulton-Armory is know for quality accurate AR's however they don't sell any chrome lined barrels except for a Mil surplus government profile. Personally I prefer a chrome barrel and that is why I won't buy a Fulton-Armory barrel. |
I just bought a new in the wrap USGI chrome bore 1/7 M16A2 barrel from them. they had one left. |
And according to this thread, you were lied to... FN Uppers at FAC PS - _DR, thanks fore the reply e-mail!
|
No I don't think so. It has all the correct barrel stampings, although military contractors can't sell to the general public, some barrels do find their way out. You'll notice it is not advertised on the website, you have to ask for it, there's a reason for that. While theoretically it would be possible to "forge" the stampings, it's highly unlikely a reputable company would do this. There are exceptions to every rule. After 8 years in the infantry, I have a pretty good idea of what an M16 barrel looks like. |
Two problems with what you are saying... A. You showed a picture of your barrel the other day and it was not marked FNMI which is supposed to be the correct marking. B. Clint Lynch, who is a engineer with FN states...
I asked him in an e-mail to verify\clarify that statement but it would appear he's saying all true FN barrels (which would mean all true USGI barrels as they have the sole contract to produce M16's) are made in house. That being the case, I can see of no reason why one would leave the factory without the FNMI marking. That being the case then yours is clearly a fake. |

You do realize that FAC is not Fulton Armory, don't you? They are completely different companies. FAC = FAC of America Fulton Armory = Fulton Armory |
Nope, I sure didn't. Never heard of FAC of America. I saw _Dr's post about getting a USGI barrel from FA then saw they other thread about FAC and like an idiot, thought they where talking about the same place. Never thought too much about the fact I didn't know what the "C" was supposed to stand for! ![]() Thanks for the clarification. |
Number one that was not my barrel, I was showing an example of a gov't stampt barrel. Number two, maybe it is a fake, but it is common knowledge that production overrun parts ARE in fact sold, just not overtly. The barrel I ordered IS stamped FNMI, I will post some pics when it comes in. if in fact it was a forgery, then that gives me specific legal rights. Somehow I don't think Fulton Armory is going to risk a lawsuit for sell ing a forgery for a paltry $200. Believe what you want, and I'll do the same. |
Does it matter either way? If the barrel has the specs you want, it strikes me that only a child would really care if it was a true .gov barrel. |
If the specs and the quality are there I agree 100%. |
Thank you for finally answering that. I only asked you that what, 2-3 times through the forum and e-mail? But I would agree, if it is marked FNMI than it is probably the real deal ![]()
To me yes, Why? Because I do not like being lied to. Do you? If they are lying about who made it, what else are they lying about? If that childish then, oh well, sign me up for pre-school! |
If they are lying, and the barrel is the equal in every single other way, then I would argue that anyone that concerned with having a "real GI" barrel deserves to be lied to. Having worked in an Army surplus store for over two years when I was in college, I still to this day do not understand the facination. |
Well, mine is the fascination of having what I trained with for 8 years. I just want something as close to that as I can legally have (and I can't afford a transferable M16A2 so it has to be an A2 configured AR15 clone) so that is what I was trying to acheive (call it nostalgia, mid-life crisis, whatever). It was a special order, not something listed on their website. They stated was FNMI was clearly stamped on the barrel with the other expected stampings for a gov't issue M16A2 barrel, and that it was a genuine article. I have faith in Fulton Armory not to lie about something like that(they have always been above board with me), but I will be able to confirm that when I get it. I find it hard to believe that a reputable firm such as Fulton would lie about something like this, I suppose anything is possible. I have seen "gov't production overrun" items like Colt M4 uppers on CMMG before, I don't believe they would lie either. Some say if it is "military production" it has to be a fake. A lot of what I hear is anectodal, and I have to take it with a grain of salt. If this barrel has the correct stampings, and all is in order, I have no reason to believe that Fulton Armory deals in forgeries. I am not going to question them on how they got it, I am just happy they did. They also have genuine new M16A1 barrels listed on their website, with the C MP 1/12 stampings. Are these forgeries too? I am not buying that. Anyway I will post some pics (should be here today) when it comes in. If it is not stamped FNMI, etc, then I will take issue with them. |

DR Anyway I will post some pics (should be here today) when it comes in. If it is not stamped FNMI, etc, then I will take issue with them. Please let me know when you receive it and let me know where I can see some pics. I have been looking at these as well. I'd appreciate it. Thanks!!!!! |
See that I understand. What I don't get is all the 4Fs that dress up like rambo to pose for pics on the web. That's all. |
