I stumbled across this ... still Sci-tech right now, but since the inventor mentions rifle scopes as an application on his website, I'm thinking he must be meaning QD mounts?
This is just for fun, thought I'd share ... what are your thoughts? Hard to imagine a magnetic connection that would be strong enough to withstand real-world combat abuse. http://www.correlatedmagnetics.com/MagAttach.html "Introducing MagLatchTM Technology MagLatch technology enables new mechanical fasteners that can be used to strongly attach two objects or surfaces together while enabling easy separation of the objects or surfaces. MagLatch technology can be used to enable precision alignment of objects and can be used to allow or disallow attachment of specific objects or surfaces. This technology can be used to improve gun scopes, survey equipment and similar devices." "The technology’s ability to combine strong attachment forces that can be released with a relatively minor torque, to achieve precision alignment, and even contactless attachment will enable improvements to all sorts of products and processes and the creation of entirely products and processes." |
| Spent a little more time reading the guy's website. If he's selling stock, I think I'd be buying. The applications for his tech seem endless and it seems like one of those breakthroughs that will take a lot of cost out of things while making them more convenient. Kind of like Cree and the white/blue LED. |

Kind of like Cree and the white/blue LED. Been done, while, actually, I used a couple of the super-magnets to pin the AK-Irondot down with ... ... which, incidently, it's back on the front burner. |
