As a novice, will it be easy to change my gas block with out fear of something flying off due to pressure?? I want to switch to rail mount front sight rather than the A2 sight gas block combo.

You should nhave no problem but read the Build It Yourself threads and or watch a video on the brownells website. Good luck and make sure the GB you choose will cover the area thats not parkerized M4QUADRAIL

Or you can use the tried and true method of cutting you existing FSB down.
