I dont like having paracord on a FSB. It melts.

So fabbed this up using some Kevlar shoe laces.
Being that you cant melt it, the ends have to be sewn up.

The Kx3 isnt retro, but it works better than a fake 607 moderator. Its lighter too.

Hmm.  Kevlar shoelaces.  For kicking bullets out of mid-air?

Seriously, it's not a bad idea––but do they come in other colors?  If they were OD I think they'd look pretty good.

I have never gotten a FSB hot enough to melt para cord.

Then again you may be allowed to run fully automatic weapons in your state (I don't know), I am not.

The laces will outlast your boots. Those plastic tips coming off is the only reason I have extras. Got tired of having to redo the scotch tape.
Someone on Ebay had but I dont recall other colors. One day some brown shoe dye will take care of it the odd color.

I kind of like the look of that moderator - modern or not. How about a pic of the whole rifle? I'd like to find some kevlar shoelaces for my workboots! interesting 'retrocal' mod. I'm hoping for enough ammo someday to melt 550 cord. I could see wrapped around the gas tube retainer or on the barrel it being a problem, but the upper FSB? I like the way you ran that, and can see where kevlar would be a good mod in that position.

I looked around trying to think of something that might have been retro-practical and came up with a grenade ring. Works pretty well.

I have, but it was when I was a young USMC grunt shooting bursts (it might even have been a SAW, I can't remember).  Regardless, I'll never ever use 550 cord around the FSB, I just won't chance it.  On a couple of my retros, I've used a metal sling adapter commonly issued to grenadiers when I was in, and for a retro-ish sling I've mated an old carbine/grease gun sling with the lower part of an ALICE pack strap.  Old skool quick adjust sling, except for the dangle it works great.

Is that the clip you are are talking about?
I dont use them the way the instructions want it.

Thank you for your service in the USMC.

I like that look.
I might have to redo my IDF build's sling.
Hey m1sniper, can you put a metal hook back on a sling for me?

I've got one of those sling adapter kits - comes with a strap for the buttstock as well -they're about $12.95 - I'll probably give mine away - have to dig it out first. I prefer the Israeli paracord system because it's quiet. Rattle gets you killed. Especially around zombies.

Maybe he's got some with the hooks still on.

I didn't save any of the hooks I cut off,,but why not just take the para cord off the one I sent ya and put the grenade ring directly thru the web sling, that way it's" mo" quiet. You won't have the rattle of the grenade ring to the clip I only have 6 GP straps left,2 are modified already and are put aside for the RBR postal shoot, the other 4 already have the clips cut off an are ready for the para cord.

That's a good idea ... only thing would be getting the grenade ring on/off the FSB, it's a bit of a chore - wouldn't make for quick sling uninstall like the hook.

I thought about some OD tape on the ring for noise reduction.

What is the name for the grenade ring sling?
Its gotta be something official sounding.

His starting bid is reasonable ($6.00) but his shipping seems a bit high ($11.83) for 10 GP straps.  Of course, maybe that's the postage for the smallest one rate box they fit in.

They came in the medium flat rate box with runs about $10.70 I think.

Though this setup looks cool! I can vouch for M1snipers field sling. I have one on my M4 and have not had a "Melting" problem with over 1400 rounds out the pipe. I liked the slings so much I put them on just about all my guns!! Where do you find Kevlar shoelaces!

You have my attention.

1400 rounds at once!!!!!!!!!!! The FSB was not hot enough to melt paracord after over 1400 rounds on automatic?

RetroAngles...what happened at over 1400? Cookoffs start in the 900 count range. Did you have any cookoff's?
How much time between each magdump? All the mags loaded beforehand?
