Try not to laugh at me. Last night I learned that you don’t clean your gas key with a que-tip. I was out of pipe cleaners and thought it would be ok. Well it wasn’t ok. The end of the que-tip came off inside the gas key. Any ideas on how I should remove it. I really don’t want to take the gas key off.

Tweezers maybe?

Use a dental pick to tear off pieces of the cotton swab until it's small enough to pull out.  If you get lucky you may be able to pull it all out after a few tries.

Don't feel bad I did the same thing about 20 years ago...

Pushing it out with a piece of copper wire might work.

Putting some solvent down there might also help make the q-tip cotton smaller since it will be wet, then try pulling it out with something small.

+1 for the compressed air. I would soak the offending swab in oil, assemble the bolt carrier, so that the bolt and firing pin is in, then you only have to cover one of the two gas ports on the outside of the bcg, and just blow it out.

I would never use anything but an old .22 brass brush inside of the key.
