I recently built a M4 and after about 300 rounds I noticed the bolt wron't hold the carrier when I stand it on end. I replaced it with a Mcfarland and today after 200 rounds same thing. The gun runs fine. Is this normal?

Do the gas rings pass the test procedure as outlined in the -23 as well as the Colt Mtx Manual?

The bolt doesn't hold the carrier when it stands on end. Today I only put 200 rounds through it with a new ring and same thing. It does run fine though.

I understand that. And that is not the procedure called out for IAW the manual.
Do the gas rings pass the Serviceability Check IAW the -23?

I'm sorry I misunderstood. I'm pretty sure the bolt didn't drop out of the carrier when I went to stand it on it's head. So It's o.K?

I go by the book. And if the gas rings pass according to the TM,..... I’m satisfied.
