I assembled my first conventional AR this morning to 'ready to shoot condition' but have a question (my other AR is gas piston so I don't have a point of reference).
Does the gas tube/gas key slip-fit connection create a tight seal? It doesn't seem to have any back pressure at all - it feels about the same as when the BCG is locked back. I know there is no gasket or anything, just wondering if this is standard. |

Nope, no gaskets or seals except the gas rings around the bolt.
You may need to fire 20-30 rounds thru it for the carbon to finish sealing around the gas tube in the FSB and the interface between the gas carrier key and the bolt carrier. Don't be surprised if it short strokes at first. Also don't be surprised if there are carbon stains around the gas tube where it comes out of the FSB. BSW |
